Insect Shield® Repellent Apparel and Insect Shield® Repellent Gear are the most effective new tools in over 50 years in the battle against annoying and potentially dangerous insects—a completely new method for insect protection.

 

One of the founders’ original intentions for developing Insect Shield was to help protect children from insect-borne diseases. Haynes Griffin, chairman and CEO, and Richard Lane, president and developer of the Insect Shield process, recognized that this technology could greatly impact worldwide health by offering durable, effective and convenient solutions to people whose lives are impacted by diseases such as malaria, West Nile virus, dengue fever and Lyme disease.

 

After numerous years of research and development, Insect Shield, LLC, headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, introduced the first insect-repellent apparel registered by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in fall 2003.
